Tasting and Fireworks Cruises

Sailing with a Sommelier - Tasting Cruises

What is the perfect way to spend a summer evening?  In Saskatoon, start with the tranquility of our beautiful South Saskatchewan River.  Add being on the river, on board The Prairie Lily Riverboat.  Top it off with feature tastings of some of the finer things in life – Bourbons, Wines, Canapes, or Scotch. We welcome back the Sommeliers from our partner vendor, Co-op Wine Spirits Beer who bring their tasting room to the Prairie Lily on Wednesdays in July and August 2018. (Please note, all tasting cruises are for guests 19 year old and over only.)  Our cruises sold out quickly last year so last year so purchase your tickets early!  These cruises board at 6:45, depart at 7:00 and return at 8:30.

July 11 – Rose on the River –  Rose wine is a bright and fresh wine, perfect for a night on the river.  Roses range from a soft, subtle hue to a vibrant, hot pink, depending on the grape used and how long the grape skins were in contact with the juice.  Sample a few with us and pick your new summer favourite!  Tickets $55.

July 18 – Bubbles and Canapes - The Outstanding and Unique Flavours created by The Hollows are our feature tonight!  Over the course of the evening you will be treated to eight specially prepared canapes served with two glasses of featured sparkling wines.  Tickets $80.

July 25 - Exceptional Scotches 1 – Scotch is uniquely enjoyed with its flavours brought forth using the natural resources of the Scottish countryside.  The ageless charm of the Scottish landscape is represented in every sip of a whisky and we are pleased to bring you some of the most exceptional available.  Tickets $55.

August 1 –  Steamboat Bourbons - Bourbon is back with a vengeance.  Bourbon Whiskey has to be made from 51% corn and aged in new American oak barrels to be called “bourbon”, but that leaves a lot of space to experiment.  With lots of distillers, they can be smoky, sweet, spicy, and/or slightly fruity. Tickets $55.

August 8 – Guess the Expensive Wine – Taste is a personal thing.  In a “white versus white” and “red versus red” contest, you get to guess if price and value are the same thing.  Join us for a fun evening that puts some wines to the test. Tickets $55.

August 15 – California Cruisin’ - If California were a separate country, it would be the world's fourth largest wine producer.  Wines comes from the most interesting soils and terroirs and produce a wide selection of varietals.  Cruise with a few special flavours with some tasting notes that will make your palate sail! Tickets $55.

August 22 – Big Reds – Summer is big and bright in Saskatchewan, just like this evening’s flavours.  A late summer sunset with our big sky is a perfect compliment to sampling some colourful reds with bold flavours. Tickets $55.

August 29 – Exceptional Scotches 2 – Scotch Whisky’s distinct tastes depend on where in Scotland it is made or distilled.  From the Lowlands to the Highlands, Islay to Campbeltown, there are so many to indulge!  Tour with us again to get more samplings of this eloquent drink.  Tickets $55.

SOLD OUT! - PotashCorp Fireworks Festival - Labour Day Weekend, September 1, 2018  - SOLD OUT!

Labour Day weekend is lit up by the PotashCorp Fireworks Festival!  A fireworks extravaganza brightens Saskatoon's sky.  The fireworks start at 9:30 the Friday and Saturday of the long weekend.  We have a special evening sailing on Saturday, September 1, 2018, to share the view from the river.  We start with a casual cruise to settle you in and show you our beautiful river valley (and get to the south side of the "hot zone" prior to the river being closed to traffic).  Then, we serve a three course dinner with a freshly barbecued entree.  From there, the ship moves into position south of the Festival Site.  Before the show starts, you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Festival from the centre of the river.  Once the show starts, you have a front row seat to enjoy a professional show set to music enhanced by a glass of complimentary sparkling wine.  The whole event is an evening unto itself, lasting 3.5-4 hours.  The extra benefit?  Better parking!  Tickets $125 per person.  All guests must be 19 years old and over.

PLEASE NOTE:  Prairie River Cruises offers exceptional fireworks cruises and does so with the general confidence we are able to fulfill our promised event.   There are some general circumstances we cannot control and cannot be held responsible for, up to and including the cancellation or discontinuation of the main events by their organizers.  In addition to general sailing and weather conditions, in the case of the July 1 show, water levels and conditions may affect how close the ship can get.  In the case of the organizers cancelling the evening show, they expect to host it the following evening, again, weather permitting.  If you have September 1 Fireworks Tickets, please expect to keep September 2, 2018 available.  If you cannot join the second evening, we will refund your ticket and look to resell it.
